The Caisse seeks to capitalize on investment opportunities in all financial markets. Its investments are made in Québec, in Canada and on international markets. They range from stocks, bonds, real estate and business financing to hedge funds.

The Caisse's goal is to diversify investments to maximize the long-term return for its depositors. Ultimately, all Québecers who make contributions to one or several depositors benefit from its return.

In 2007, the Caisse generated an overall return which ranks it in the first decile of Canada’s large pension funds. This return resulted in an increase of $7.9 billion in the depositors’ net assets.
